Excel Automation without VBA Macros is now possible. You can now use Office Scripts and Power Automate instead of Excel VBA macros to automate repetitive tasks. You can also use Power Automate to schedule these tasks to take place at times that your organsiation requires.
One of the downsides of Excel VBA macros is that a few bad actors can use the power of VBA for malicious purposes. This then requires the IT Section to spend valuable time and resources to implement robust policies to block VBA Macros.
The new Excel Automation through Office Scripts and Power Automate can be performed on non macro Excel files which are much safer. The Office Scripts and Power Automate run on SharePoint / OneDrive which is a much more secure environment than a user’s Desktop PC or network server.
